Preparing for Liberation Day Celebrations
Many islanders have been getting together and creating beautiful bunting to line the streets of both Guernsey and Sark to celebrate the upcoming 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands at the end of the Second World War.
Second hand fabric was collected, inkeeping with the 'make do and mend' theme and happy volunteers have sewn metres and metres of beautiful flags. The children at Sark school also made some beautiful flags. The bunting has been hung in Guernsey, and will be hung on the Avenue on Sark to mark the occasion. For more details of the events taking place on the 10th and 11th May on Sark see the Sark Liberation Day Facebook page, here.
